AFC coach Minnaert voted the best manager in March

AFC Leopards Belgian coach Ivan Minnaert is the winner of Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month Award for March.

The 47-year-old bagged the gong after guiding his club to top of the table with three victories and one draw during the period in review.

AFC Leopards beat star-studded Bandari, defending champions Gor Mahia and the newly promoted Kakamega Homeboyz. They only dropped points against Chemelil Sugar who fought hard for the score-less draw.

Minnaert takes home a personalised trophy and Sh50000 from the insurer for his commendable efforts in March. The Belgian was short-listed alongside Ulinzi Stars tactician Robert Matano and Tusker FC Ugandan coach Paul Nkata. Nkata guided Tusker to second place on the table with two wins over Chemelil Sugar and Muhoroni Youth then dropped points in the draw against Ushuru. Matano on the other hand was stuck in fifth place with Ulinzi Stars having won one match and drawn three in March. Minnaert is the second recipient of the monthly gong after Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi, who won the February award. The Belgian hailed the award as a morale booster in a tough league. “I’m happy to be honoured but I give credit to the players who put in the hard work and the rest of technical bench. Really, it’s a good gesture to recognise people who perform well in such a tough league,” he said.
