Reigning national champions Kenya Ports Authority teams host Strathmore University teams in Mombasa this weekend.
The Porters have a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five series following their wins in Nairobi. They only need a win to reach the finals.
KPA women’s coach Anthony Ojukwu admitted that the Mombasa-based teams struggled in their Nairobi games but they’re all set. “Strathmore had a good game but my players showed character and prevailed,” Ojukwu said.
He said he was happy with the team’s 2-0 lead and their preparations for the Game Three and if need be four and five.
Equity Bank Hawks’ coach Ben Oluoch said the team is in good space ahead of their crucial play-off semi-finals against Zetech University Sparks.
The bankers, who are tied 1-1 with the students, were due to play Game Three on a Friday evening and a pivotal Game Four on Sunday
“ After our last training session, I can confirm the team is in a good space. We are getting better with every training session,” said Oluoch.
“All we can do now together with my assistant is to just motivate and guide players in the game. Coaching has been done well,” he added.
Sparks coach Maurice Obilo said they have prepared well even though they will miss national team star Medina Okot.
