Kenyan swimmers and coaches will benefit from a one-day competitive swimming clinic at ACK Thika Church Memorial School, led by American coach Charles Chris. The session aims to sharpen technique, improve race skills, and expose participants to elite international training methods.
“I am in Kenya to support competitive swimming and help the country grow into a hub for Olympic-level swimmers,” said Coach Chris.
“I bring years of experience from the United States, and I firmly believe Kenya has the talent, discipline, and passion needed to produce world-class swimmers. I am also eager to work closely with local coaches, share knowledge, and support their professional growth. Kenya is a beautiful country with immense potential, and I am ready to settle here.”
Coach Chris will be joined by Coach Omar Omari and Alex Kaindi, Kenya Aquatics technical director and head Coach at St. Christopher’s School, Nanyuki. Their participation underscores the importance of the clinic and its alignment with national swimming development goals.
Coach Omari urged swimmers from Thika and neighbouring areas to seize the opportunity.
“We invite all swimmers from the region to attend. Participants will benefit greatly and receive an objective technical evaluation from coach Chris, who is highly certified by the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA). This is a rare chance to be assessed and guided to international standards,” he said.
The clinic fee is Sh1,000, covering all costs including pool access. The ACK Thika School swimming pool, open to the public, is steadily becoming a centre of excellence for aquatic sports. The session will also be attended by Joseph Ndung’u, chairman of Murang’a Aquatics, who has given his full support and blessing to the initiative.
Coach Chris brings over 10 years of experience with the North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC), one of the most respected swimming programs in the United States and a USA Swimming Silver Medal Club.
He has guided swimmers to top-three finishes at the Maryland State Long Course Championships and holds multiple accolades, including USA Swimming Senior Athlete Development, ASCA credentials, and athlete protection and safety qualifications.
