Gor Mahia have secured a timely boost for the remainder of the season after entering into a partnership with Kansai Plascon Kenya, a deal club officials say will strengthen day-to-day operations while opening new commercial pathways for the record champions.

The agreement, unveiled at an event attended by the club's chairman, Ambrose Rachier,  patron Eliud Owalo, players and FKF officials, will see Kansai Plascon commit Sh5 million until the end of the current campaign, with an option for annual renewal subject to performance and mutual agreement.

Owalo said the partnership was built on shared value, noting it would go beyond branding to support the club’s wider ambitions. The sponsors' logo o will appear on the sleeves.

“This is a partnership that is mutual, an opportunity for Gor Mahia to benefit from capital and information as we go out to the market and engage more prospective partners,” Owalo said.

He added that the club was keen to leverage its massive fan base through better organisation and structured membership.

Rachier described the deal as a significant step in Gor Mahia’s commercial journey, stressing the importance of clarity and visibility.

“This is a milestone, even though it is not our first nor the only partnership. We agreed on the length and requirements, settled on a one-year renewable contract and signed it. Sponsorship takes two to tango, and we must give positive visibility,” the chairman said.

Club officials indicated that the immediate impact will be felt in logistics, particularly around training and match preparation, with improved transport, equipment support and smoother scheduling expected to ease the burden on the technical bench.

The funding is also set to enhance player welfare, facilitate timely travel to away fixtures and support training-ground activities, key elements as the title race tightens.

Beyond logistics, the partnership is expected to strengthen fan engagement through organised membership drives, structured stakeholder meetings and clearer communication channels, a move the club believes will unlock additional revenue streams while giving supporters a stronger voice.

“Every stakeholder has a say. There is freedom of speech and opinion,” Owalo said, pointing to the central role fans play in Gor Mahia’s identity.

Kansai Plascon Kenya managing director Kota Enami said the club’s reach made the partnership attractive, noting the company’s long-term presence in the country.

“We have been in Kenya for about 17 years, and this will give us a lot more exposure. As a corporate entity, we also look to give back to the community. There is going to be an annual renewal and, if things go well, we will expand more,” Enami said.

With Gor Mahia briefly topping the table before being edged out by Kenya Police, the club insists the focus remains on the title push.

“We live to fight for the title,” Owalo said, as the champions look to translate off-field stability into on-field success in the decisive run-in.

The timing of the partnership is also crucial on the sporting front, coming after Gor Mahia suffered back-to-back league defeats that momentarily slowed their momentum in the title race.

The technical bench has termed the defeats a wake-up call rather than a setback, with attention now turning to a demanding midweek fixture against Kakamega Homeboyz. They host them on Wednesday at Moi Stadium, Kasarani.

The champions view the match as an opportunity to reset, restore confidence and reassert their credentials as they prepare for the final stretch of the season.
