Martials have shifted their focus to the Mwamba Cup after a disastrous start to
the KRU Championship.
USIU-A Martials have lost all their opening three games in
the second-tier league.
Coach Tom Lagat said, “We have had a bad start, losing all three
games. However, we have reviewed our performances and corrected the key areas.
Our focus now shifts fully to the Mwamba Cup.”
USIU-A Martials will on Saturday host Kabarak University at
USIU Grounds in the Mwamba Cup round of 16 encounter.
“Against Kabarak, we expect a much sharper, more disciplined
performance. The boys are hungry to bounce back and show the quality we know
they have,” said Lagat.
He added: “Our target in this competition is simple: compete
strongly, take one game at a time, and push as far as possible.”
Kisii Rugby has qualified for the quarter finals without
kicking the ball after their opponents, Stallions, pulled out of the competition.
Kisii Rugby chairman Bob Onchong’a said: “Our opponents, Stallions, have
informed us that they will not honour the game.”
