Murang’a Seal head coach Osborne Monday believes their 2-1 triumph over KCB has reignited belief within his squad and provided the perfect motivation ahead of their SportPesa League clash with Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday.

The Murang’a-based side claimed their first home victory of the season at St Sebastian Park last weekend, with Paul Osama breaking the deadlock before Joe Waithira sealed the win in the 88th minute.

“This is our first win at home and it has given us a lot of confidence,” said Monday. “We are still building, but the good thing is that the team has started to click. We are moving the ball better, attacking with purpose and becoming more clinical in front of goal.”

The former Harambee Stars midfielder hailed his players’ fighting spirit and said the win could be the spark that turns their season around.

He reserved special praise for winger Victor Haki, who impressed in the match.

“There was a lot of good movement from Haki — in fact, he was fantastic for us,” Monday said.

Seal face a daunting task against an in-form Homeboyz side sitting top of the standings on 14 points from seven outings.

Their campaign has seen them secure four wins against Sofapaka (1-0), Bidco (3-1), Ulinzi Stars (3-1) and APS Bomet (2-1), with a solitary loss to Nairobi United (2-0) and a barren draw against Mara Sugar in their League opener.

‎Homeboyz walk into the tie off the back of a 1-1 draw against Tusker in their most recent encounter.

Seal forward Osama hopes the result will spark a personal and team resurgence.

“My target is to score 15 goals and get 10 assists,” he said. “It feels great to finally get on the scoresheet because I have been working hard in training and that hard work has finally paid off. I need to stay sharp, keep improving and help the team climb up the table.”

Osama also paid tribute to Seal’s loyal fans.

“The support from our fans has been immense, even though we had some struggles in our opening games. Their support has been consistent and that has propelled us to a home victory,” he said.

Seal’s season began inconsistently, with a 1-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars, a 2-0 win over APS Bomet, and three straight defeats to Bandari, Sofapaka and Tusker, before a 2-2 draw against Posta Rangers.
