Kisii-based FKF Premier League side Shabana has strengthened the team by signing 14 players with the target of lifting the 2025/26 title.
The club's secretary general, Elizaphan Kerama, said they assembled the best squad as the transfer window closed on Friday evening.
Shabana have signed 14 new players to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season, with a focus on winning the title, and announced a revenue of Sh5 million from merchandise sales.
"The transfer window was very competitive, but we managed to get all our targets. This squad is ready to challenge for the league title," said Kerama.
"We have beefed up all departments following recommendations from the technical bench led by coach Peter Okidi. We went for experienced and upcoming players," remarked the SG.
Some of the new signings include goalkeepers Caleb Omondi, formerly of Gor Mahia, and David Obasanjo from Kisumu All Stars.
They will compete with Maxwell Mulili, who cemented his place at the club last season. Defenders Victor Omondi, Kevin Musamali, Wycliffe Omondi, and Justus Munika have also joined Tore Bobe. The new midfielders are Byron Otieno, David Odoyo, Derrick Otieno, and Dunson Kiprono.
Other new signings are Ugandan Bronson Nsumbuga (St Mary's Kitende), Eric Otieno (Tusker), Brian Olega (Uganda), Gilbert Abala (Nairobi City Stars), and Humphrey Obino ( Murang'a Seals).
Kerama added that centre back Abisolom Aduda has joined the club's technical bench as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The club parted ways with 18 players who have been part of the team in the last three seasons.
"We mutually released the players, and we want to thank them for their services for the time they were with us," added Kerama. Kerama, at the same time, announced that the club has earned Sh5 million from the sale of merchandise. He encouraged the club's fans to buy original merchandise from the club's authorised dealers and distributors. "Some unscrupulous people have started selling fake merchandise. We have reported the same to the police," noted Kerama.
He added: "We only get Sh25 million from our shirt sponsors Sportpesa. We also get money from gate collections, but it's not enough to run the club for a whole season. That's why we have other revenue streams like sale of merchandise."
