Bernard Indasi, St Patrick’s Iten High School rugby 15s coach, will seek to exploit home advantage when the Term Two secondary schools games start this weekend.

Indasi, who led his side to the national championships last year, said he is expecting tough opposition from the likes of Tambach and Kipsoen at the Keiyo North games in Elgeyo Marakwet.

He targets to navigate his way up to the national championships.

“We are playing at home this weekend and our focus is to be the top team heading to the county championships in two weeks,” said Indasi.

Indasi is impressed with the team's progress, especially after defending St Patrick’s Iten rugby 10s title in their backyard.

"My team is fine and ready for the contest both at the championships and school games,” he said.

They are under pressure to perform now that all their opponents will be battling for a piece of the defending champions.

“Yes, pressure is there as defending champions both at the county and regional level. Our opponents are arming themselves to tear us apart. However, morale in the team is so high as we seek to go higher than last year,” said Indasi.

Indasi's 'B' team beat St Michael Kipsombe from Uasin Gishu 12-0 to win the Iten 10s title. The hosts listed two teams in a tournament that attracted eight schools; Baringo High, Chewoyet, Tambach, Meteitei, Samoei, Kipsombe, Laboretti, St Patrick's 'A' and 'B'.

“This was a good game for us considering that Kipsombe are Uasin Gishu county champions,” he said.

In the semifinals, the champions beat Tambach 10-07 with Kipsombe winning 17-07 against St Patrick's 'A'.
