KCB women’s volleyball team head coach Japheth Munala has expressed confidence in his squad as the Eldoret City Volleyball tournament serves off on Saturday.

The tournament, in its second edition, is played at the Eldoret National Polytechnic.

The Kenya Volleyball Federation League defending champions will face stiff competition in the tournament that has attracted over 100 teams from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

“We are ready to hit the ground running in this prestigious tournament that will see our team compete against the best teams from the East African region," Munala said.

"This event will be a good test for our players who have shown tremendous improvement recently. We have trained very well for the competition, and anyone can be called upon to represent the badge.”

Setter Sheila Wabwile, who recently joined the bankers from Kwanthanze Secondary School will feature for the bankers who lost the services of Immaculate Nekesa who has joined rivals Kenya Pipeline.

Phosca Kasisi is expected to make a comeback from a long-term knee injury.

Experienced KCB captain and Malkia Strikers middle-blocker said: “The team’s confidence is high, and we cannot wait to take on our opponents in this tournament to prove our class against the best in Kenya and the region."

Wisa has been a key cog in the side and was part of the team that won the Afric Club Championship last year.

"We are happy to incorporate youngster Wabwile into the squad. We will help her develop as she also helps us to achieve our goals,” the soft-spoken captain added.

Currently, the bankers are topping the league standings with 12 points after two rounds played so far.
