The sub county semifinals of the inaugural Sakaja Super Cup Football tournament begin on Thursday with a total of 20 matches on the cards in various venues across the capital.
The tournament quarterfinals were played over the weekend, spilling over to Monday, as the tournament heads for the late stages.In the Dagoretti North sub county quarter finals, Siesta FC scraped through on with a 8-7 victory over Kilimani FC after the teams drew 1-1 in regulation time. Classic outclassed Kile Soccer 3-0, FIFA Best defeated Maranatha 4-3 as Escalators beat Kabiro Youth 3-0.
Away in Kibra sub county, Sitambili put a solitary goal past Kibera Golden as Kibera Arts beat Shofco Fc with a similar margin. Makina All-stars defeated InterBase Fc 2-1 in Dagoretti South, Riruta 105 FC beat Mutuini Rangers FC 3-0. Geofrey Erambo scored in the 32nd and 79th minutes with winger Ikutwa Ford striking in the 73rd.
Dagoretti Santos and Home In Home fought to a barren draw, sending the match into penalty kicks with Home in Home winning it 5-4. At Calvary grounds, Morefire tossed Legends out with a 3- 0 drubbing courtesy of Omondi Jargso’s hat trick in the 2nd, 8th and 51st minutes
In Embakasi South sub county, Real Warriors and Kamongo played out a goalless draw with the away team winning the penalty shootout 5-4. Ar Vision grounds, Alfan Muthoka was on the scoresheet as Mukuru Combined defeated Reuben United by a solitary goal.
In Embakasi North, Dandora Hunters beat Dandora United 4-3 on postmatch penalties after a one-all draw in regulation time. Their other neighbour, Dandora Maono fell 2-0 to Kariobangi Sports. Dandora Fullnesco thumped Kariobangi Stars 3-0 as Kariobangi FC bowed out after a 5-4 penalty shootout defeat by rivals Clever FC.
Other matches in Embakasi East saw Levites beat Team Unfit by a solitary goal courtesy of George Mbadi's second-minute strike. Embakasi United won 4- 3 against Kin San FC on penalty shootouts while in Kamukunji sub county, California Friends claimed a 1-0 victory over Usacli FC courtesy of Beker Mikidaddy's strike. Pumwani overpowered Eastleigh Youth 2_1.
in Roysambu sub county, Kamiti FC and Roysambu FC settled for a 2-2 draw in regulation time warrant a penalty shoout, which Kamiti won 5-4. PAC University overcame Githurai Youth 2-1 tgrough goals from Chudier Guech (48 min) and Akok Deng (82 min). Paul Kimani had put Githurai ahead in the 2nd minute.
Embakasi central sub county saw yet another tough match ending in a draw as Kayole United and Bongonaya settled for a 1-1 draw in regulation time before Bongonaya won it 8-7 on penalties.
In Makadara sub county, Michezo Halisi dumped A1000 Sportiff FC out with a 4-0 thumping with goals courtesy of Otieno Kennedy (5th and and 37) th minutes, and Fidel Otieno also netted a brace (15 th and 86th minutes) . Makadara Youth defeated Jericho All stars 1 – 0 with a goal from Mureithi Michael in the 10 th minute.
In Embakasi West, Alegzin FC defeated Hope Sportiff FC 1-0 courtesy of a 63rd minute from Kelvin Kimando as UEFA Despanol bundled Katatenje out with a 5-4 penalty shootout victory after the match had ended 1-1 in regular time.
In Ruaraka sub-county, St. John beat Mathare North Youth through goals from Malama John and Otieno David. Lucky Summer Sports defeated Homeboyz 2-0 courtesy of Kennedy Odhiambo and Rikaard Lwa's strikes.
At Kihumbuini Grounds in Westlands sub county, Gullyside thumped Deep Sea United 6-2 as Karura Green lost 2-0 to City Park FC while Kipande Fc lost 2-3 to Leads United. In Embakasi South sub county, Vision FC beat Sun City 2-1. In Ruaraka sub-county, Lucky Summer AllStars FC beat Babadogo Babes 2-1. Javan Omondi and Frank Ochieng' were on the scoresheet for Lucky Summer as Sanday Sammy pulled one back for Babadogo Babes.
Mathare subcounty saw Muoroto overcome Julias Burger 1-0 while in Embakasi East, Bromley hit Santos Hotspur 1-0 courtesy of William Omutanyi's 90th minute penalty kickReal Soweto Hope downed Embakasi All Stars 1-0
Nicholas Omondi, Duncan Chakali, Dennis Omollo were on target as Babadogo United beat Mathare Flames 4-0. At Njiru grounds, Victors' Faith defeated Made in the Streets 2-1 as Mwiki United defeated Kamal FC 1-0.
