Kenya drops four places in latest FIFA ranking

The highest Rank Kenya has ever acquired was 68 in December 2008.

The Kenya men's football team has dropped four places in the latest FIFA ranking to position 109 from position 105 in the latest ranking done by the international football body on September 21.

Kenya dropped 6.93 points to a cumulative of 1184.14 with the drop attributed to the defeat against the lowly-ranked South Sudan.

South Sudan is ranked at position 167

The national team played two international friendlies against the 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar and neighbouring South Sudan.

Harambee stars won away in Qatar 2-1 courtesy of a late goal from Amos Nondi Obiero but lost at home a few days later to South Sudan in a 1-0 match played at the Moi international Kasarani stadium.

Uganda are ranked at position 89 while Tanzania sit at position 122

Mali and Côte d’Ivoire ranked 49 and 50 respectively moved up two spots to reclaim their positions amongst the top 50.

Argentina leads the rankings whereas former World champions France sits in position two.

Meanwhile, Brazil-3rd, England-4th and Belgium-5th retain their places since the last ranking.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on 26 October.
