Equity Bank thrashed Desert Scorpions 37-23 in a Kenya Handball Federation league clash at the Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

The bankers went to the breather with an 18-11 lead. Maxwell Munene led with seven goals while Rashid Ingutia, Brian Murangiri, and Rodzi Stower nailed six each. Martin Oreda shot seven, Steven Wanyama six, and Maanzo Mvici five.

Randy Ochieng continued his hot scoring form, scoring 10 goals as Buccaneers beat Young City 28-23. They led 10-9 at halftime. Saulo Mwathi bagged the losers’ six goals.

Nanyuki defeated Hunters 45-30 in an all newcomers clash. Collins Omondi scored eight goals and Samson Kiprop added six. The losers, who trailed 23-12 at the break, had seven from Eara Omondi.

In the ladies’ category, the National Youth Service clubbed New Hope 32-18. NYS led 12-6 at the break and had nine goals from each of Rachael Nekesa and Previous Esther. Hope had eight from Timminah Barasa.

“We gave it a fight and at least we got a second win. Two players are on attachment outside Nairobi which makes it hard for me to have consistency in the squad,” said NYS coach Anthony Nabruck.

Amazon beat Daystar University 27-22 as Vivian Nunyet tallied nine goals. Belldone Aruna scored seven for the students. The teams were locked 13-13 at halftime.
