Simon 'Kosirai' Kipkorir became the first Kenyan player to win the Confederation of Africa Volleyball Men's Club Championships title.

His Tunisian team, Mouloudia Sportive de Bou Salem, overpowered Zamaleck in the finals on Sunday to be crowned champions on home soil as Tunisia successfully hosted the annual continental event for a third year in a row.

The towering utility player was also named in the CAVB seven-player dream team as middle blocker alongside Abderahmane Arab.

Kosirai, who has transitioned into an opposite hitter as well, played the two positions interchangeably and that worked well for his team.

The 25-year-old joined the Tunisian giants on a one-year deal in September last year after helping the General Service Unit GSU retain the Kenya Volleyball Federation league title.

His trophy-laden career includes five consecutive national league titles with the Gideon Tarus-coached GSU and is one of the few decorated Kenyan sportspersons despite his age.

Kosirai, who's club career kicked off at Ulinzi volleyball club in January 2017, is yet to make a decision about his future with his contract expiring in September.

Earlier this month he said: "My agent reached out to me that the club is willing to extend my contract for a further year but I am yet to make up my mind. Al Ibtisam even informed me of their desire to  acquire my services for a second time but I had already started work in Tunisia," Kosirai said.
