Vihiga coach Boniface Nyamunyamu insists that their match against   Ulinzi this weekend will be the turning point this season as the Kenya Women's Premier League enters the homestretch.

"The focus is on Ulinzi because a win for us could mean 12 point gap and the title race could be over. If Ulinzi win, the race will blow wide open."

He said they withstood tougher tests against both Nakuru and Thika and urged his players to keep up the same spirit for the remainder of the season.

The Vivian Akinyi captained Gaspo side will be pleased with their 3-0 win against Kisumu All-Starlets although inconsistency has been their major undoing.

Gaspo's early-season imperious form has faded off with four draws limiting their title chances.

Defending champions Thika recovered from the 1-0 loss to Vihiga two weeks ago to beat Kayole Starlets 2-0. Thika won the league title unbeaten last year, but lethargic displays characterize their season so far even as they occupy fourth place.

Mid-table teams Trans-Nzoia Falcon and Nakuru and newbies Bunyore are in comfort zones with their safety almost guaranteed.

Wadadia (10 points), Kisumu and Kayole (both nine) and Kangemi (3) are all fighting for survival in the cut-throat top-tier league.

It is surprising to see Wadadia in this situation considering they reached the playoffs last season. Three teams will be relegated with Kangemi a certainty unless they improve on their performance.

Fixtures are coming thick and faster. With the season coming to the end in the next 10 weeks anything can happen at both ends of the WPL standings.
