The tea-guzzling trio of DP’s Mwai Kibaki, SDP’s Charity Ngilu and Ford Kenya’s Kijana Wamalwa, coalescing around the National Alliance was running out of time to pick a joint opposition candidate for the December 2002 elections. This is as the rebellion in Kanu hit its peak over the pick of Uhuru Kenyatta as successor by President Daniel Moi.
