Socialite Huddah Monroe got her first car from a boyfriend.

She said the car cost Sh7.5 million. "My boyfriend bought me my first car when I was 21," she said.

Huddah was speaking in defence of Felesta Njoroge, a university student whose bank account was frozen over money laundering suspicions after she received Sh102 million from her Belgian boyfriend.

The socialite said she, too, has had her bank account frozen numerous times after receiving cash from her boyfriend.

"Some men out give their girlfriends lots of money for expenditures. You are used to Kenyan sponsors. Do they even give pocket money?"

Huddah further suggested that the student should be taxed and allowed to keep the money.

"That money is probably miscellaneous to that person, considering he is into cryptocurrency," she said.

"Tax the girl and let her keep her coins."

The Asset Recovery Agency on Friday successfully obtained court orders to freeze Felesta’s account over suspicious deposits. The agency had applied for the orders to investigate the source of Sh102.6 million deposited into her Co-operative Bank account.

Issuing the orders on Friday, November 19, Milimani Anti-Corruption Court's Justice Esther Maina said the account would be frozen for 90 days to facilitate the probe.

The 21-year-old Nairobi Technical Training Institute student said she received the amount from her Belgian boyfriend named De Mesel Marc, who asked her to spend it as she pleased.
