The best loaded fries in Nairobi are worth the hustle of getting to Jabavu Lane, Kilimani. Blue Tang Table serves an array of loaded fries and soul foods that reflect different cuisines from around the globe.

Their signature loaded fries are as loaded as the name implies, stuffed with different types of meat, depending on the corner you choose to dine from. The meals are accompanied by different special sauces that the owners personally prepare every morning.

I had the loaded sizzling prawns with fries, bacon and their special ranch sauce and a side of sliced lime from the aqua corner and the loaded steak bites with fries, bacon, guacamole and their pop sauce from the wall of loaded steak bites, then washed down the meal with a faux margarita mocktail.

Prawns are a crustacean for celebration and the chefs at Blue Tang truly understand this.

Their prawns are well cooked, opaque white with some pink and bright red accents and perfect curls. They are perfectly seasoned and melt in your mouth as you chew them.

The fries are well spiced and soft as they are oven baked instead of old-fashioned frying. I appreciate the fact that the meal isn't too oily as most fast foods tend to be, nor under or over salted. The ranch sauce is tangy with hints of garlic and herbs, once you sprinkle the lime juice over the meal, it heightens the flavours.

Everything truly blends perfectly.

The portion of the meal is really generous and goes for Sh1,350.

The steak bites are juicy and a blend of crunchy and tender; you can literally feel the flavors exploding in your mouth.

The guacamole is chilled and fresh and the pop sauce contrasts the flavours, giving the meal a blend of chili and barbecue sweetness.

The loaded steak bites go for Sh850 and you have the option of adding cheese to your meal at an extra cost of Sh250.

The faux margarita is perfect for a chilled afternoon. What is unique about this drink is the fact that they do not use regular water cubes to chill the drink as these end up diluting the flavour of the drink when they melt.

At Blue Tang, they use frozen lime juice for the cubes so when they dissolve, they end up adding flavour to the drink. It’s also not extra-sugary but it is really sweet, does not taste of concentrated added syrup also the flavours intensify as you consume the drink. It is totally a must-have.

The dining experience at the Blue Tang Table is a really pleasant one. I’m looking forward to visiting again and trying other options from their loaded corners and getting a taste of their soul food corner as well.
