Kenyan gospel artist Benachi, known for his soulful and uplifting tunes, including "Mwanake', has opened up about the lowest point not only in his music career, but also in life.

In an interview on Alex Mwakideu Live on YouTube, the artist describes losing Kaberere in 2014 as the lowest point in his life.

"My lowest moment was when Kaberere passed," the Mwananke hitmaker said.

"People were saying different things, and I was like, at this time of grieving, why would you say these kinds of things?" he added.

Kaberere, a Kenyan contemporary gospel artist, passed away in 2014 from electrocution at his own car wash.

"It was really hurtful to lose Kaberere when I had just known him," Benachi shared.

Benachi regarded Kabarere as his mentor. Kaberere featured Benachi in "Mwanake," which went on to become a huge hit. With this release, Benachi became the last artist Kaberere released a song with.

"Some people were saying I was riding with that [Kaberere's death]. It was my lowest moment, and it really hurt me at that time," Benachi recalled.

"All of a sudden, from being a regular guy, I'm all over. It was his last song," he added.

He went on to reveal that this hurts him every time he thinks about Kaberere's death.

"It really was my lowest moment, where I'm like, 'Why did he go at this time? Why are people saying this? Why did it happen like this?' But I don't have the answers, bro." Benachi told Alex Mwakideu.

The artist attributed his naivety to why he was so deeply affected by what people were saying following his mentor's death.

"I didn't know how to deal with some things. The Benachi who is now is different from then. I was naive and I was young. And it happened abruptly," The Mwanake hitmaker said. "I had mixed emotions. I didn't know how to deal with it," he added.

The artist also shared that he fell into depression because of this.

"There's a time I had depression. I had just left Kenya, I'm in the States, Qabbz [Kaberere] just passed, there's a lot of things going on," he stated.

Despite this being his lowest moment, Benachi also says it was a turning point in his life where his blessings started to flow.
