• Kega said the resolution followed a meeting by the National Executive Committee held Tuesday.

• Kega noted in the statement that pursuant to a letter dated May 29 from the Registrar of Political Parties, Uhuru's NDC held on May 22 did not follow due process.

Jubilee National Executive Committee held Tuesday held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

The Jubilee Party leadership led by EALA member of Parliament Kanini Kega says the party will convene a Special National Delegates Convention on July 22 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

In a statement on Wednesday, Kega who identified himself as the acting secretary general said the resolution followed a meeting by the National Executive Committee held Tuesday.

"The meeting noted and agreed with the determination of the Internal Disputes Resolution Committee (IDRC) dated May 30, 2023, which declared the meeting held on May 22, 2023, as null and void," Kega said.

The said meeting was convened by former President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Ngong Racecourse where leadership changes were made.

However, the party’s internal disputes resolution committee declared the NDC null and void saying Uhuru erred as he failed to comply with the provisions of the outfit’s Constitution.

"The purported SNDC held on May 22, 2023, was convened in contravention of the party constitution and was therefore also null and void,” the ruling by the committee chaired by Gideon Solonka read.

The ruling was ratified by the Registrar of Political Parties in a letter dated May 29.

The Registrar also declined to effect the removal of several renegades purged during the SNDC citing submission of incomplete documents by embattled secretary general Jeremiah Kioni's faction.

"In light of the above, we wish to inform our members that the purported changes in the leadership of our party made at the said meeting are of no consequence," Kega said.

"The meeting has also resolved that the party will hold a Special National Delegates Convention (SNDC) at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre on the 22nd of July, 2023," he added.

Meanwhile, Kega said Jubilee has written to the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula notifying him that the party's leadership in the House remains unchanged pursuant to the nullification of the changes instituted by the Uhuru faction on May 22.

Following the Racecourse NDC, the Azimio coalition formally kicked out nominated MP Sabina Chege as Deputy Minority Whip in the National Assembly.

In its parliamentary group meeting held on May 30, the coalition replaced Chege with Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje.
