Renowned Kikuyu benga maestro, Dickson Munyonyi, who gained fame for his chart-topping track 'Firirinda,' was laid to rest on Saturday.
The solemn burial ceremony took place at Githuya Primary School in Gatundu South, Kiambu County.
Hundreds of mourners gathered to bid their final farewell to the iconic musician, reflecting the profound impact he had on the local music scene and the hearts of his fans.
Also present for the burial ceremony was Public service CS Moses Kuria.
Munyonyi died on Saturday morning last week while receiving treatment at Gatundu Level 5 Hospital in Kiambu County, his family said.
He had been in hospital after being diagnosed with cancer.
He had also made appeals to well-wishers on social media, asking for financial support to offset his medical bills.
The singer came to the limelight at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when his song Firirinda became a national anthem among many.
Firirinda was released 30 years ago.
The song became a sensation across social media platforms with youngsters even dancing to it.
