National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro has showered praise on the Star newspaper for its phenomenal growth and transformative impact on Kenya’s media landscape.

He attributed the newspaper’s continued success to its bold, rich and truthful journalism that has elevated it above its competitors.

In an exclusive interview with the Star, the South Mugirango MP described the publication as the fastest-growing daily newspaper in the country.

He commended its impressive strides across several dimensions—including high-quality content, visionary leadership, innovation and unwavering professionalism.

“The Star newspaper has stood the test of time to emerge as a giant in the media industry. It is a reliable and credible source of information that’s worth reading every single day,” Osoro said.

His remarks came as the Star marks 18 years of impactful journalism, a milestone he said reflects consistency, resilience and a strong editorial compass.

An ardent reader of the Star, Osoro acknowledged the paper’s evolution into a trustworthy pillar of factual reporting—one that has helped shape national discourse, empower citizens with knowledge and support democratic development.

Today, the Star reaches virtually every corner of the country, thanks to its diverse and in-depth coverage.

From the popular ‘Corridors of Power’ political column to incisive political commentary, county news, business reports, opinion pages and comprehensive sports coverage, the paper has become a staple for readers seeking thoughtful, well-rounded journalism.

“What started as a modest publication has spread like wildfire,” Osoro said.

“Its growth is not just visible in the numbers but also in the quality and substance of its stories. This is more than journalism—it is responsible journalism.”

He praised the paper for playing a critical role in advancing Kenya’s social, political and economic transformation by maintaining high standards of accuracy, balance and fairness in its reporting.

The Star has been at the forefront of exposing wrongs and demanding accountability through its groundbreaking investigative work, hard-hitting exposés and deeply analytical articles, the lawmaker said.

“The newspaper has inspired major governance reforms and sparked important national conversations. Its fearless and factual reporting has made it an essential voice in our democracy,” he said.

Unlike some outlets that rely on sensationalism to grab attention, Osoro said, the Star remains anchored in truth and professionalism, avoiding the temptation to publish misleading or exaggerated headlines.

“It is the only paper today that resists the urge to massage propaganda or distort facts for sensational appeal. That is rare and worthy of high praise,” he said.

Osoro urged the editorial team and leadership to stay the course, continue publishing hard-hitting stories, shine a light on societal ills and uphold the truth without compromise.

He concluded his tribute with a heartfelt congratulations to the entire team:
“Congratulations to the Star family. May your rays continue to shine ever brighter as you grow older. You have truly earned your place among Kenya’s most respected media institutions.”
