Ancient Coast buildings have been able to remain firm for many years.

This is proof of good design, strong foundation and better building materials that can withhold the buildings despite the solidity of soil in the region and other factors.

However, in recent years, the construction of good buildings has deteriorated, despite efforts by the National Construction Authority to audit these buildings.

This is especially in major cities like Nairobi where several buildings may have collapsed due to poor foundations, and unqualified builders who may mix the ratio of materials incorrectly to make the concrete.

Therefore the concrete may not be able to hold the building after construction, bad design, faulty construction, soil liquefaction and inadequate maintenance and non-compliance to statutory requirements.

The owners of these buildings may also contribute to the collapse of these buildings.

This is because some people may want the construction works to end quickly so that tenants can occupy the rooms and owners start recovering their money.

With this action, the building may not become firm and may end up being fatal.

The coastal regions' leaders may partner with their cultural heritage centres to discuss which materials were used in the past to construct firm and long-lasting buildings.

In addition, after getting the knowledge they may share it with all county governments in the country.

With this, the National Construction Authority may share with aspiring builders and those in action to help them construct firm buildings in the future.

However, they may not just copy what our ancestors did as they were not much developed. But with that idea, they may innovate and get better results.

In Narok town, there are not so many tall buildings. There are almost three-quarters of one-storey buildings.

This may be because of the strong floods that occur seasonally.

Thus tall buildings may be destroyed quickly as the soil is usually carried away making it weak.

This example is good as it shows that constructors are aware of their region.
