Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has exuded confidence that President William Ruto, Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and he himself will form an unbeatable political force ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during the Kuria East Constituency Economic Forum in Migori County on Saturday, Kindiki dismissed any doubts about the strength of the emerging alliance, suggesting that the combination of the three political heavyweights would be too formidable for any opposition group.
“We are focused on working for Kenyans. The time for campaigns will come. If you look at William Ruto, me, and now that we have His Excellency Raila Odinga on our team, do we look like people who can be defeated by those people during campaigns?” Kindiki posed.
He was quick to clarify, however, that despite their political readiness, the government's current focus remains on development and service delivery.
“Let the campaign period reach and we will beat them then, but not now. Right now, we are working,” he stated.
Kindiki emphasised that the Ruto’s administration is determined to deliver on its promises, urging leaders within the ruling coalition to avoid complacency.
“Our group, led by President William Ruto, wants to pull up our socks because leadership is temporary, not permanent. Won’t everyone be a former at some point?” he asked rhetorically.
In what appeared to be a veiled jab at the former DP Rigathi Gachagua, Kindiki accused unnamed leaders of misusing their time in office and turning to public lectures after falling out of favor.
“We want to tell them not to see that we are working and think we are stupid. We understand leadership. Others had occupied big seats in the office but misused their time there, and now they keep lecturing us out there,” he said.
Kindiki further took aim at the opposition, accusing them of lacking a development agenda and only engaging with the public during election seasons.
He criticised politicians who appear out of touch with ordinary Kenyans, especially small-scale traders and boda boda operators.
“They usually wait for the election period, and that is when they remember that Mama Mboga exists. They look for an apron for Sh50 to lie to them. They look for boda boda riders and give them reflectors for Sh50 to trick them into voting,” he said.
The DP reaffirmed the administration’s keenness on supporting
small traders and the hustler economy beyond campaign seasons, arguing that
real support must be consistent and not politically motivated.
