President Samia Suluhu has marked two years since the demise of Former Tanzanian President John Magufuli.
Suluhu described the deceased Magufuli as a committed leader who will forever be remembered.
Serikali itaendelea kumuenzi kwa kuendeleza mazuri aliyoyaanzisha," Suluhu said on an Instagram post.
Magufuli died of chronic atrial fibrillation on March 17, 2021, a condition he battled for 10 years and was laid to rest on March 25 of the same year.
While taking over from Magufuli, Suluhu said the late president Magufuli had prepared her for any task in the event that he was not able.
She was speaking during the funeral mass of Magufuli at Uhuru grounds in Dodoma.
Kwa hivyo mimi nipo hapa kama rais," she said.
(I want to say these to those doubting if as a woman I will be able to lead. I am your president. We have lost a hero and a patriot but he left me in charge. Therefore I am here as your president).
"President Magufuli had empowered me for the task. I want to confirm to all Tanzanians that I am your president and this country is in safe hands," she said.
Magufuli left behind seven children and 10 grandchildren.
