Ruto, Kindiki mourn Nyandarua MCA Beth Wahito

President William Ruto has condoled with the family of Nyandarua County nominated MCA Beth Wahito, following her death.

In a statement, Ruto described Wahito as a solid grassroots mobilizer and a strong supporter of the ruling party, UDA.

“We join the family and the people of Nyandarua County in mourning the passing of Mheshimiwa Beth Wahito.

“She was a solid grassroots mobiliser and a steadfast UDA supporter who subscribed to progressive politics,” the President said.

He added that the late county legislator will be remembered for great ideas that changed the lives of people of Njabini for the better.

“Beth will best be remembered for the many fresh ideas that transformed the lives of the people of Njabini. Rest In Peace, Mheshimiwa Beth.”

The nominated MCA died after her car got involved in an accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway on Saturday night.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also mourned Wahito, saying that she will be remembered for her efforts to empower the people of Njabini.

“Saddened by the news of the tragic death of Beth Wahito, nominated member of the Nyandarua County Assembly.

“She will be remembered for her relentless dedication to the economic empowerment of the people of Njabini from where she hailed,” Kindiki said.

Wahito was returning home from a budget committee meeting held in Naivasha when the fatal crash occurred at around 11 pm.

She was a seasoned political figure in Nyandarua, with a career in public service spanning more than 30 years.

Over the years, she held several key roles, including leadership positions in the Democratic Party, serving as NARC-Kenya’s chairperson in Nyandarua, and more recently, acting as the Kinangop coordinator for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua described the late as someone who lived a decent life in and out of politics.

He said that it is from people like Wahito that leaders draw lessons on hard work, humility, commitment and passion even as they serve the people.

“Hon. Wahito was an amiable person and a shepherd of the people in Nyandarua County. She lived a decent life in and out of politics. “I knew her as a deeply development-conscious leader and a people-person. Her demise leaves a big gap in society and tears in many eyes beyond a painful grief,” Gachagua said.

Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, said Wahito's leadership lefta  meaningful impact.

"Sincere condolences to the family of Hon. Beth Wahito and the people of Nyandarua. Her leadership and service left a meaningful impact. May she rest in peace."
