Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said the Kenya Kwanza administration will not get entangled in retrogressive politics that will adversely interfere with the nation’s development.

The Deputy President affirmed the government’s focus on delivering development projects and programs geared at raising the standard of lives of all the people.

Speaking on Friday when he inspected ongoing government-funded projects in Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County, Kindiki said interest remains solely on their completion on time as well as initiating others as earlier promised.

“It's time to develop Ol Kalou and Nyandarua and our country. Politics will come later and we will be ready for it. But right now, we are not mixing politics and development because we are focused. If we do, our people will suffer and we will not fulfil our promises,” DP stated.

Accompanied by area leaders, DP inspected the Gwa Kiongo-Gituamba-Kabazi Road, which had earlier been abandoned by the previous regime due to financial challenges.

The 27.5 km road linking Nyandarua and Nakuru counties is being revived by President William Ruto's government at a cost of Sh1.1 billion.

The Deputy President also inspected Mirangine ESP Market and led a Boda Boda Empowerment activity at Mirangine town.

The Market is 70 per cent complete and is set for completion by June this year. It is being funded at Sh56 million by the government.

It is among 400 markets being constructed by the government nationally. Once complete, it will accommodate more than 300 mama mboga and small-scale traders.

Other amenities that will be available are cold rooms, an ICT Hub, rooms for lactating mothers, playing areas and a conference and social hall for meetings.

“It is not only in Ol Kalou but we are reviving stalled roads in Ndaragwa, Kipipiri, Ol Jorok and Kinangop constituencies in Nyandarua and across the country to ensure the nation is opened up for business and economic growth. Apart from roads, we also have markets under construction in Nyandarua County, including Ol Kalou and many more in every constituency nationally,” DP noted.

In total, the government is constructing over 280 km of roads in the County. The DP promised completion before the next elections.

“As a government we are working to make the lives of the people better. It's not time for politics, but at the right time we will fully delve into it.

My work is to assist the President to deliver roads, markets, better prices for farm produce and development projects to every part of the country. That is my work,” he added.

The DP said the work done by the government is visible and tangible, promising more to elevate livelihoods.

“Some are saying, we have not or will not do anything but we are building markets, constructing roads and connecting more homes to electricity. I will be here several times to ensure all the projects are complete and the promises we made are fulfilled,” he said.

Kindiki assured boda boda riders and mama mboga that they will continue to benefit immensely from the government they supported.

“Often, we have looked for boda boda riders during elections but we have decided that they will be part and parcel of socio-economic transformation and empowerment policies throughout our term,” DP said.
