Nine-year-old boy dies by suicide in Homa Bay

Police said he hanged himself on a mango tree using a nylon rope

A nine-year-old Grade 4 pupil has died by suicide in Riat Village in Rachuonyo subcounty, Homa Bay County, on Wednesday.

According to a police report, the matter was reported by the assistant chief of Lawere East, Kenneth Malachi.

The incident happened on Wednesday around 7.30 am. The deceased was a pupil at Aolo Primary School.

Police said he hanged himself on a mango tree using a nylon rope.

His body was discovered by one of the neighbors dangling precariously on the tree.

A team of officers from Kosele police station and DCI from Rachuonyo South DCI visited the scene where the incident occurred.

No suicide note was found.

The body was taken to Karachuonyo subcounty hospitals morgue awaiting post mortem.
