Four people who were allegedly abducted recently have resurfaced, National Police Service (NPS) has announced. The four were among six Kenyans who were recently reported missing after unknown individuals reportedly abducted them.
This even as the police spokesperson, Resila Onyango, affirmed that the Service is committed to ensuring all the alleged abduction cases are probed.
“The National Police Service remains committed to ensuring that all these matters are thoroughly investigated to their logical conclusions,” she added.
Onyango noted that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is investigating all cases of missing persons in the country with most of the cases currently pending before court and others under active investigations.
“We therefore wish to appeal to members of the public to collaborate with us, by providing any information that may aid in investigations or tracing their whereabouts,” she said.
Onyango said all information is helpful and can be reported to the nearest police station or toll-free lines 999, 911, 112 or FichuakwaDCI 0800722203.
The police spokesperson further said Bernard Kavuli Musyimi, who was reported missing at Ngong' police station, presented himself at Moi's Bridge Police Station on Monday.
In a statement to newsrooms, Onyango said Musyimi is assisting the investigators with further information.
She added that Billy Wanyiri Mwangi, Peter Muteti and Rony Kiplagat who were reported missing in Embu Police Station, Kabete Police Station and Thogoto Police Post respectively, have re-united with their respective families.
“We wish to assure the public that our officers will reach out to them and their families and give them all the necessary support as we seek further information to assist ongoing investigations,” she said.
Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, alias Kibet Bull, and Steve Mbisi are still unaccounted for.
In its latest report released in late December, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights said at least 82 cases of abductions had been reported since June 2024, with 29 of these cases not yet resolved.
President William Ruto’s administration has denied involvement in the abductions and disappearances, with the Head of State saying police should account for the missing persons.
