The position's duties include analysing and processing applications for the registration of sports organisations, licensing professional sports bodies and sports persons, and undertaking litigation on behalf of the Office.
Other responsibilities include verifying information submitted by sports organisations and sports persons for compliance, conducting name searches for the registration of new sports organisations and professional sports bodies, and carrying out searches on information in the registers for sports organisations and bodies.
The department also announced four posts for Principal Sports Officers, whose roles involve assisting the Director for Sports in the planning, formulation and implementation of the general policy on the promotion of sports and recreation in the country.
Other roles are establishing and maintaining continuous sports programmes and activities, preparing budgets and annual reports, coordinating bilateral agreements in the areas of sports development and training and development of personnel working under him/her.
For the position of Senior Sports Officer, the department advertised eight posts.
The roles include coordinating and evaluating fitness testing for trainees, maintaining and updating documentation centres for sports, developing sports talents, preparing teams and organising sports competitions and advising on the use of facilities and equipment.
Other duties are recommending exceptionally talented athletes, sports federations, clubs or sports academies for further training, coordinating activities of sports federations, sensitising sports fraternity on matters of national interest relating to HIV/AIDS, drugs and substance abuse, and coordinating programmes for vulnerable sports groups.
