Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris has advised young girls to focus on their educations and avoid premature relationships.
Passaris emphasized that education is important in combating childhood pregnancies and also plays an important role in empowering girls in the future.
"Focus on your studies and do well the time for boys will come in the future," Passaris said.
Drawing from her own experiences, she added, “No one ever remembers their childhood sweetheart. I don’t even recall who courted me when I was in secondary school or what his name was. I have no idea where he is now.”
Passaris highlighted the need to educate girls effectively to reduce teenage pregnancies.
She called for a zero-tolerance approach toward such pregnancies, emphasizing the importance of delaying sexual relationships until the right time.
“We need to see a drop or complete elimination of teenage pregnancies,” she asserted.
“The perfect time for relationships will come,” Passaris said emphasizing that education remains a powerful tool for their personal growth and success.
