Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he had taken 7 days at the heart of Mt Kenya forest for prayers, fasting and meditation.

Gachagua revealed this during the burial service of the Late Julius Kano Ndumbi former Principal of Kianyaga High School in Gichugu, Kirinyaga.

“I had taken seven days away for prayers, fasting, meditation, and no phones and nobody could disturb me. I had to meditate for the state of the nation and welfare of this region,” Gachagua said.

He also used the opportunity to hit out to leaders who are being used to divide the community.

Gachagua said that he was ready to fight for the interests of the region and urged the people to unite and speak in one voice.

"Mt Kenya people are wise and they can tell when politics are at play, don't allow anyone to divide us," he said.

He noted that the narrative being pushed that it's the turn for other counties in Mt Kenya to rule is retrogressive and aimed at dividing the community.

The DP said he would soldier on to fight and unite the people of Mt Kenya.

"Anybody who understands the intelligence of the mountain people will be sorry because they will be shocked. We should remain united and not let anyone get in between the community and divide us," Gachagua said.

Gachagua surfaced in public on Sunday after a week of silence.

His whereabouts had raised questions.
