The University of Nairobi has launched a groundbreaking ICT upgrade.

This is after the institution unveiled 150 Wi-Fi hotspots spread across student hostels on Tuesday.

According to the Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, the deployment of Wi-Fi infrastructure reflects the university's commitment to enhancing connectivity and ensuring seamless access to online resources for its student body.

"Today marked a significant step forward UoN unveiled 150 Wi-Fi hotspots strategically spread across student hostels. This deployment of Wi-Fi reflects the university's commitment to enhancing connectivity and ensuring seamless access to online resources for its student body," he said on X.

The CS said UoN efforts are in tandem with the overall Kenya Kwanza Digital Transformation Agenda. 

"The conclusion of these initiatives underscores the University of Nairobi's commitment to harnessing the power of ICT to propel itself into the future," he said.

"By investing in connectivity and digitalization, the institution not only enhances the academic experience for its students but also strengthens its administrative capabilities, positioning itself as a leader in higher education innovation."

The vice chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama, acting deputy vice chancellor, Academic AffairsLeonida Kerubo, DVCO represented by the director (Research, Innovation Enterprise) Justus Munyoki and COO Brian Ouma were among the attendees.
