DP Gachagua attends King'ori Mwangi's burial in Nyeri

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Second Lady Pastor Dorcas have today joined mourners for the burial ceremony of former deputy Inspector General of Police King'ori Mwangi at Tetu in Nyeri.

In mourning King'ori, Gachagua termed him a distinguished civil servant.

"He exhibited pragmatism and good leadership in his role as an Assistant Inspector General of Police and other top positions he held," the DP said.

"He was a great son of our Nation. May the Soul of Kingori Rest in Peace."

Gachagua passed his deepest sympathies to the family, friends and neighbours of King'ori in Tetu.

"I pray that the Almighty God give you peace during this difficult moment," he said.

Gachagua also passed the message of condolence from President William Ruto.

King'ori died on February 11 in a hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted.

His family sent a message to his friends to announce his death.

He is said to have died from complications related to a medical surgery.

King'ori served as the Provincial Police Officer in Nairobi, Mombasa and Western regions.

He also served as the director of operations at police headquarters, police spokesman, director of Kenya Police Campus in Kiganjo and principal assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police.

He retired from the service in 2021 after attaining his retirement age.

Other leaders who attended the burial were retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Uhuru eulogised King’ori as a man who exhibited great leadership skills, integrity, and dedication to service.

He said King’ori’s skills and character saw him rise through the ranks right from when he joined the Kenya Police Force in 1988 to his retirement in 2022 at his last posting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
