A 72-year-old man was on Wednesday arrested over the alleged murder of his 25-year-old son in a village in Kipkelion, Kericho County.
The incident happened during a quarrel between the suspect and his deceased son identified as Darius Too.
According to police, the deceased was constructing a pit latrine in his brother's compound when a dispute arose with his father.
This escalated to a confrontation where the deceased was struck in the head with a wooden plank.
Witnesses said he fell unconscious and was rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital for treatment and admitted in serious condition where he succumbed to the injuries.
Police said they collected two blood stained wood planks at the scene and kept them as exhibits, pending a forensic audit.
The suspect was arrested pending his arraignment after an autopsy was done on the body, police said.
Elsewhere in Umande, Laikipia County, a 40-year-old man was killed in an assault.
One Bernard Getha died after being assaulted by a man known to him for unknown reasons.
Police said the deceased was hit on the head with a sharp-edged stone in a fight.
The assailant escaped the scene in the Wednesday incident.
Police said a blood stained stone was collected at the scene and kept as an exhibit.
