Anxiety has hit hundreds of parents and teachers in Tana River County following a delay in accessing the just released KCPE results in the country.

Candidates can access their results by sending an SMS with their index number to 40054 at a cost of Sh25 per message.

Thousands of candidates countrywide were eager to know their results but so far, they have not been able to access them in many parts.

In Tana River, journalists visited Sisters of St Joseph Holy Angeles Primary School in Hola and found teachers trying to send messages and checking the results from the portal in vain.

Only two parents managed to receive feedback but many others were still unsure of their children’s performance due to the jam.

Oscar Vutita, a teacher at the school, said they came early to the school  anticipating good results but experienced a delay in results relay.

In an interview, he said they expected the portal would be the easiest way to get the results or message but it was still not successful.

“We expected parents to also come in large numbers but up to now, they have not arrived due to the uncertainty caused by the jam,” he said.

The teacher revealed that his school had 32 candidates who registered for and sat the KCPE examination and were expecting good results but would have to be patient until the systems are back on.

Esther Jillo, a parent at Sisters of St Joseph Holy Angeles Primary School came to the school with her daughter Eclis Jillo who was expecting results but was yet to get them.

“We are waiting for results but up to now we have not got them so we are worried. We just pray all will be well,” she said.

Her daughter Jillo said she expected to get over 400 marks but up to now she was still waiting to get the results.

“Currently, I would be celebrating the victory but up to now I have not gotten the results so I'm waiting,” she said.

Constance Kanze, a teacher at Bandacho Primary School in Kilifi which is the best-performing public school in the county said they were also experiencing delays.

Bandacho, she said, had 144 candidates who sat for this year’s KCPE and is optimistic that they will record excellent performance.
