Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called on President William Ruto to ignore the critics and forge on with his work of implementing the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
Speaking during a church service in Sotik in Bomet county, Cherargei said Ruto has salvaged the country from sinking noting that his economic measures are for the good of all Kenyans.
He said through the foreign trips, the President had managed to increase the country’s direct foreign investments.
“Mungu alikuchagua ukuwe rais saa hii, you were chosen for this season, kuna watu wangepewa hii nchi vile ilikuwa wangekuwa wamezama so we thank god for you and we wish you well,” the Senator said.
This is translated to mean, “God chose you to be the President during this season because if others had taken over they would have sunk”.
He said the President has succeeded in lowering the cost of fertiliser to Sh2,500, a move that has seen the country record a bumper harvest.
“We have enough harvest, you are genius because you decided to subsidise production over consumption and we are grateful because when you took over the price of fertiliser was Sh7,000 but now it is Sh2,500, we want to thank god for you,” Cherargei said.
“You know where the country was and where it is today, we are going for greatness and we are aware anything you do for the economy is for the better of all of us,” he added.
Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura this week asked Kenyans to remain positive amid the prevailing hard economic times.
Mwaura said the strategies the government is employing are bearing results.
In a statement at the end of a two-day retreat at the College of Insurance in Nairobi, Mwaura said the National Executive acknowledged that things are tough but assured that the Kenya Kwanza administration is firmly focused on delivering a better tomorrow for citizens.
The National Executive comprises the Cabinet, Principal Secretaries and senior government officials.
"We have had a candid, open and robust conversation on the country's current state of affairs and appreciated the difficult times that the people of Kenya are going through. We assure the country that the measures we are undertaking have stabilised the economy and are bearing fruit," Mwaura said after the end of the retreat.
The retreat was called to review the progress made in the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda since the inaugural retreat in Nanyuki early in the year
