The mother of Jeff Mwathi has lamented over the delayed hearing of the death inquest of her son after the court adjourned the matter.

Anne Mwathi who was ready to proceed with her testimony on Wednesday, expressed her displeasure saying she has now suffered double pain after travelled from Qatar and failed to testify.

However, her testimony could not be taken in since her lawyer Danstan Omari was not present as he was still in Mombasa, something the  Milimani principal magistrate Zainab Abdul, reminded her of.

The magistrate asked her to communicate with her advocate and communicate her displeasure if at all.

During the last hearing, the court had said it will ensure the matter would proceed today at 9.30am.

The other counsels including DJ Fatxo's lawyer Duncan Okatch, had in the morning received calls from Omari asking them to accommodate him as he was still in Mombasa and would make it by 11.30 am.

The court adjourned the matter to March 25, 2024.

Jeff passed on February 23,2023 at Redwood apartment were rumours indicated that he had jumped from the 10th floor flat at DJ Fatxo's home.

In August,  the court was told that Jeff had tried to kill himself twice before he met his death on February 23.

Taking to the Stand,  Jeff's uncle Muchoki Mwathi dismissed allegations that their son committed suicide.

Muchoki was being led in his testimony by lawyer Omari.

He said the Jeff he knew could not kill himself because apart from being his uncle they were very close friends who shared a lot.

"From the video, I saw Jeff’s body was discovered after Fatxo left an hour or so later. As a family we have lost a son who had a bright future ahead of him," Muchoki testified before Milimani principal magistrate Zainab Abdul.

Lawyer Okatch representing Fatxo tried to demonstrate to the court that Jeff was suicidal because of the bad relationship between his parents but Muchoki said he did not believe the family issues affected Jeff.

The lawyer added that there are witnesses who will testify that Jeff wanted to kill himself because of his parents' strenuous relationship.

However, Muchoki said he didn't know Jeff's relationship with DJ Fatxo but one time he told him Fatxo had given him a shop to design and they were supposed to do it together.

The prosecution will call 34 witnesses to testify.
