Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Teachers Collins Oyuu was on Monday involved in a road accident in Kisumu County.
Oyuu was involved in an accident near Kombewa on the Bondo-Kisumu route.
Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Mwangi said the car overturned while avoiding a cyclist.
"We are investigating the accident where a cyclist was injured. The other victim escaped unhurt," he said.
Mwangi is headed to the scene to check the situation pending investigations.
Oyuu is currently undergoing a medical check-up at the Aga Khan Hospital after being involved in the Monday accident.
He was heading to Kisumu International Airport from his home in Rarieda when he escaped death narrowly during the accident at Kombewa in Seme subcounty, Kisumu county.
Oyuu was with his driver and both of them are in stable condition.
The accident occurred when the driver was avoiding a collision with a motorcyclist before the vehicle rolled.
Kisumu City Knut branch officials led by executive secretary David Obuon visited the Oyuu at the hospital.
