A boy aged 11 drowned in a dam as he tried to fetch water from it in a village in Kwale.

Police said the deceased was in the company of his sister and were fetching water at a dam in Duguni village when the incident happened on July 30.

He slipped into the water and drowned, witnesses and police said.

Efforts to rescue him did not bear any fruits.

His body was removed moments later and taken to the local mortuary pending other procedures, police said.

Elsewhere police in Kathiani, Machakos, are investigating the sudden death of a man at a local shopping centre.

Police said Mutua Makau alias Kasee aged 31 started to vomit and later collapsed.

He died at the scene and officials say they are yet to establish the cause of the death.

The body was taken to Kathiani level four-hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In Kisumu East’s Gita area, 60-year-old Anna Kagonya collapsed and died at a hotel.

The woman is said to have been at the premise on Sunday and was heading to the dining area when she collapsed and died.

She was rushed to Avenue Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was removed to the hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem. Police said they are yet to establish the cause of the death.

In Mwiki, Nairobi, one Stanley Ndirangu, 37, collapsed and died in his house as he fetched water from a basin.

The cause of the death is yet to be known, police investigating the incident said adding an investigation into the same is ongoing.

The body was moved to the mortuary after the Sunday night incident pending further probe and autopsy, police said.
