Nominee for Commission on Revenue Allocation chair Mary Wanyonyi.

National Assembly’s Committee on Finance and National Planning will on Thursday next week grill Mary Wanyonyi on her suitability to chair the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).

Wanyonyi, the wife of former IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati, was picked by President William Ruto from a final list of three forwarded to him by the Public Service Commission (PSC) following the interview process.

Thomas Ludindi Mwadeghu and Felicity Nkirote Biriri were the other candidates.

In a notice, Parliament is also requesting members of the public to submit views challenging her nomination to the position.

“In compliance with Article 118 (1) (b) of the Constitution and Section 6 (9) of the Public Appointments Parliamentary Approval Act, 2011, the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning hereby invites members of the public to submit any representations they may have, by way of written statements on oath (affidavits) with any supporting evidence contesting the suitability of the nominee for appointment as Chairperson of the Commission on Revenue Allocation,” reads the notice signed by Samuel Njoroge in a local daily.

They are to be submitted by June 21.

If approved she will replace Jane Kiringai who retired after serving for six years.

The nominee has previously served as a board member in state corporations and agencies including Kenyatta National Hospital and Maasai Mara University.

She is a certified accountant and a certified Mediator and holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).

Wanyonyi was also among the candidates shortlisted for the position of principal secretary.

The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of the National Treasury is also a commissioner.

The current commissioners, except the chairperson, were sworn into office in January.

They are Benedict Muasya Mutiso, Wilfred Koitamet Olekina Nchoshoi, Fatuma Gedi, George Jalang’o Midiwo, Hadija Nganyi Juma, Isabel Nyambura Waiyaki, Jonas Misto Vincent Kuko and Chris Kiptoo.
