Section of the area had experienced disturbances in the protests called by Azimio La Umoja Coalition amid a ban by police.

Locals said police provoked them.

Officials at the MSF clinic along Juja Road informed police the three had been brought there on Tuesday evening with serious wounds.

It is suspected police shot them during the earlier protests that were reported in some parts of the city.

The three were later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital with wounds chest, thigh and buttocks, police said.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said police are investigating the incident.

The victims include a juvenile, Derrick Agwaro Mwamba aged 17 who had suspected gunshot injuries on the left side of the chest but is now in stable condition.

One Edwin Otieno, 26 who had wounds on the left side of the thigh is also in stable condition while Joel Omondi Oluthe 46, had injuries on the right buttocks but is also in stable condition.

Ipoa officials said they are investigating the incident among others. They want to establish how police conducted their operations on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man was Wednesday night shot and seriously wounded in a robbery at his shop along Kamiti Road, Kahawa West, Nairobi.

Police said they were alerted about the incident by a bodaboda rider who took Ndirangu Thuranira to hospital after being shot in the left bicep.

The victim told police two men entered his shop posing as customers before one of them whipped out a pistol.

They then robbed him of Sh25,000 and a mobile phone. He raised an alarm prompting the gunman to shoot him once.

The gunmen then jumped onto a waiting getaway motorcycle whose number plate was not immediately taken and escaped.

Police who visited the scene said an empty cartridge of 9mm was recovered at the scene and kept for ballistic analysis.

A hunt for the suspected criminals is ongoing.
