Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday visited the family of a former MCA who was killed by bandits in Meru.

The MCA was killed by armed criminals on Sunday.

The CS said investigations are underway to identify the killers and recover stolen livestock.

"More security officers have been deployed to contain cases of insecurity in Meru North region," Kindiki said.

Kindiki was received by Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi.

Residents were also present during the visit.

Kindiki in his quest to end banditry in the country last month said Kenya and banditry can't coexist as one must give way to the other.

"It takes a while because of the intricacies involved but we are on course and we will win the war. It is either Kenya or bandits, it is either the law or crime. One has to give way," he said.

Kindiki assured that Kenya will certainly not give way, and neither will the government nor the people of Kenya.

"Bandits, criminals have to give way," he said.

The CS said the ministry is working on its intelligence to fight the cultural practice of banditry.

Kindiki said the ministry is working on improving its intelligence to work on intelligence-led security.
