Kenyans took to social media to react to claims that pictures published by the Director of Criminal Investigations were not of the ongoing anti-government rallies.
The images posted by the DCI were meant to be of the Anti-government rallies held on Monday.
A section of Kenyans took to Twitter questioning whether the DCI was intentionally misleading Kenyans or was it a mistake.
"DCI is painting the Azimio demons negatively. The intention is very clear," claimed Twitter user Sulle 254.
Others said their trust in the DCI is slowly diminishing due to the claims.
"Directorate of Criminal Images" Most of the photos published by DCI purported to be from Monday demos were not from Monday's demonstrations. The DCI has knowingly, willingly and with intent, chosen to publish false and misleading information," tweeted Ben Katili.
The @DCI_Kenya has embarrassed itself publishing photos from the past and from other countries as those of people wanted for participating in the Monday demonstrations in Kenya!@ntvkenya@NTVnewsroom@citizentvkenya@KTNNewsKE

DCI has always charged bloggers with cybercrime law. “ anyone knowingly, willingly and with intent, chosen to publish false and misleading information “ is committing an offense. So how will DCI under Amin Mohammed charge others when they lead in publishing fake images.

How can we trust the DCI after this 🥲

The DCI has stooped too low with the downloaded pictures, they forgot KOT has its own intelligence unit and now they’re being exposed and it’s embarrassing to see the screenshots pointing to where the photos were downloaded.

Don’t allow yourself to be used in political games.
Criminals will forever have their way if the @DCI_Kenya keeps lying to the public. Why would you use old photos and lie that these photos were captured on Monday during the Azimio protests? When did we stop being authentic? @citizentvkenya @Kenyans pic.twitter.com/mw6DyZopsl
