  • RFH Healthcare serves at least 100,000 patients per annum–ranging from premium clients to those who rely only on the National Hospital Insurance Fund.

Dr Maxwell Okoth founded the Ruai Family Hospital in 2011 as an outpatient clinic in a one-bedroom apartment. The hospital is now called RFH Healthcare.

Ruai Family Hospital Dr Maxwell Okoth has announced that he will be stepping back the day-to-day operations of the hospital as the Chief Operating Officer but will be part of the hospital from the board level.

He founded the hospital from a one-bedroom apartment in 2011 when he was then a post-graduate student.

It was later renamed Ruai Family Hospital before upgrading to RFH Healthcare with services ranging from primary outpatient to highly-specialised and critical care services.

“I will therefore be handing over the day-to-day operations of this institution to a team of very able management,” he said.

“I will continue to undertake my duties as CEO as we handle this transition over the next couple of weeks. The board will be announcing the new CEO very soon.”

RFH Healthcare serves at least 100,000 patients per annum–ranging from premium clients to those who rely only on the National Hospital Insurance Fund.

It is especially known for its maternity programme which offers high-quality services to under-served communities at low cost.

It has since expanded to offer surgical clinics, renal, home-based care, critical care, imaging, and specialised care among others.

According to Okoth, the hospital has grown from a single clinic to nine hospitals and from a workforce of just three, to over 600 in direct employment alone.

Since its inception, the hospital has been able to attend to more than 450,000 patients and with over 7,000 safe deliveries.

He said the plan is to finalize the multi-speciality oncology wing and cardiac centre this year.
