Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has threatened to mobilise a mass walkout from Twitter over proposed charges.

Miguna took to Twitter on Tuesday night calling out new Twitter owner Elon Musk over his radical policy to levy charges on users with blue badges.

"Mr. Elon Musk: You don’t need the money. Greed is one of the worst sins. Stop exploiting Twitter users. If you persist, we will ORGANIZE a mass exodus from Twitter and turn your “investment” into a nightmare! Continue pushing us!!" he tweeted.

Miguna pointed out that Musk is a wealthy man and that the move appears to be motivated by  what he termed as "greed".

"You are by far the wealthiest person on earth, what are you ripping people off for?" he posed.

However, the lawyer with a massive Twitter following did not offer evidence on the alleged greed he talked about.

He returned to the country from Canada where he has been in exile since 2018 following his unceremonious ejection.

This comes after Twitter announced plans to charge users with the blue verification badge on a monthly basis.

Musk had planned to charge Sh2,429 ($20), but reviewed the plans following worldwide uproar and outrage.

"Twitter's current lords & peasants' system for who has or doesn't have a blue checkmark. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month," he said.

Additionally, Musk said the charges will vary in different countries due to the differences in purchasing power.

"Price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity," Musk tweeted.

Currently, the company only grants verified status to notable accounts from a prominently recognized individual or brand.
