Former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has encouraged those who performed dismally in school that they too have a bright future. 

The Cabinet nominee for Public Service and Gender revealed to MPs on Tuesday that despite scoring her D- in high school, she managed to get where she is today.  

"It's good if you can appreciate me and congratulate me,"Jumwa said.

She was appearing before the National Assembly Vetting Committee on Appointments at County Hall, Nairobi.

She said she is a role model to others despite her poor performance academically. 

Jumwa further revealed that she is not shy about the matter as it is in the public domain. 

She said that President William Ruto nominated her to the position after doing due diligence and must have known about her academic background.
