Burundi president Evariste Ndayishimiye has congratulated President-elect William Ruto.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Evariste urged all political parties to embrace peace.

"My heartfelt congratulations to the President-elect William Ruto and the people of the Republic of Kenya for holding free, fair and peaceful elections," Evariste said in a tweet.

''We urge all the parties to preserve peace, and disputes be resolved by existing competent legal mechanisms," Evariste said in a tweet.
