Kirinyaga: Police probe mob injustice incident that left one dead

Police in Kirinyaga are probing an incident of mob injustice that led to the death of one person.

James Murithi, 39, was lynched at Kamugunda centre.

According to police, a quarrel ensued between Murithi and another man identified as Boniface Ngare aged 46 years who had earlier in the day been cut on his head and injured.

Police say Murithi was rushed to Kianyaga Level 4 Hospital, where he was treated and discharged in fair condition.

According to the police, Murithi decided to revenge and assault Ngare prompting a mob to lynch him to death.

Ngare was also rushed to Kianyaga Level Four Hospital for treatment and was later discharged while in fair condition.

Karumandi Police officers visited the scene and necessary action was taken.

The body was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere, on Monday a 35-year-old man, Shadrack Ouma allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old identified as Joseph Omondi within London estate, Siaya County due to a disagreement.

A crowd turned against Ouma and he was subjected to mob injustice, police said.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found Shadrack with deep cuts all over the body

He was rushed to Siaya Referral Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition while the injured victim Omondi was also rushed to the same facility with deep cuts on the head.

Police officers from Siaya police station took necessary action and the case is pending investigation.
