The data reveals a dramatic surge in global fuel prices between February 23 and May 4, 2026, driven by geopolitical tensions.

Looking at the weekly average prices in dollars per litre, the impact varies significantly across different nations, affecting both gasoline and diesel costs.

The United Arab Emirates experienced the most severe spike in diesel prices, which soared by 86.1 per cent, alongside a 52.4 per cent increase in gasoline.

Malaysia also faced substantial hikes, with diesel rising by 71.2 per cent and gasoline by 56.3 per cent.

Pakistan and South Africa saw massive climbs as well, particularly for South African diesel, which jumped by 63.6 per cent.

Western nations were not spared from this volatility.

The United States saw gasoline increase by 44.5 per cent and diesel by 48.1 per cent, while Canada recorded more closely aligned jumps of over 30 per cent for both fuel types.

China felt the mildest relative impact, though its fuel costs still rose significantly.
