    The Global Peace Index 2025 highlights the nations most severely affected by internal and external conflicts, as measured by the "Ongoing Conflict" domain. This metric assesses the duration, intensity, resulting deaths, and extent of involvement in both domestic and international disputes.

    Scores range from 1.000 (most peaceful) to 5.000 (least peaceful). According to this analysis, the five countries experiencing the highest levels of ongoing conflict are Russia, Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Syria.

    Russia is ranked the least peaceful at 163, with the highest score of 4.195. It also saw the largest negative score change of $0.495$, resulting in a one-place deterioration in its ranking.

    Ukraine closely follows at rank 162 with a score of 4.005, also experiencing a significant score change of $0.417$ and a one-place drop.

    Sudan is ranked 161 with a score of $3.691$. The DRC is ranked 160 with a score of $3.647$, seeing a score increase of $0.211$ and a two-place drop.

    Finally, Syria ranks 159 with a score of $3.536$. These rankings emphasise the devastating impact sustained conflict has on national stability and human security across the globe.
